As part of the nationwide celebration of the International Day of Yoga, a large-scale district-level programme was organized in East Godavari District on June 21, 2025, in alignment with the directives of the Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The event formed part of a Guinness World Record attempt, featuring synchronized yoga practice sessions held simultaneously across the country.
The programme commenced precisely at 7:00 AM, in line with the national event led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who conducted the official observance from Visakhapatnam (Vizag).
Led at the district level by East Godavari District Collector Smt. P. Prasanthi, IAS, the programme witnessed a massive participation of nearly 10,000 individuals, including students from various colleges, government employees from multiple departments, and members of the public.
Among the participating institutions, Government College (Autonomous), Rajahmundry made a remarkable contribution, with over 3,000 students and staff members, including 200 NCC cadets, actively participating in the yoga session. The participants followed the Common Yoga Protocol, which included asanas, pranayama (breathing techniques), and dhyana (meditation), fostering both physical and mental wellness.
The college was led by its Principal, Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao, along with Lt. Dr. Esub Basha Shaik and Dr. K. Anusha, NCC Officers. Several faculty members and non-teaching staff also joined, ensuring effective coordination and enthusiastic involvement from all quarters.
Theme – "One Earth, One Health"
The theme for International Day of Yoga 2025, “One Earth, One Health”, underscored the deep connection between individual well-being and planetary health. The celebration highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable, mindful practices that not only improve personal health but also contribute to environmental harmony and global well-being.
Yoga, as an ancient Indian tradition, promotes holistic health—strengthening the body, calming the mind, and harmonizing human life with nature. The event served as a powerful reminder that a healthy society begins with healthy individuals and a healthy planet.
