National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) was observed in Government College (A), Rajahmundry with great patriotic fervour. The Principal, Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao, along with faculty members and students, offered floral tributes by garlanding the portrait of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.
Following the tribute, the Principal addressed the gathering and highlighted the remarkable role played by Sardar Patel in shaping modern India.
He referred to Patel’s historic contribution to national integration, explaining how he united more than 560 princely states after Independence, overcoming political resistance and regional divisions with firm resolve and diplomatic skill.
Patel’s leadership during the formation of a unified Indian Union laid the foundation for the strong and stable nation India is today.
The Principal urged the students to remember Sardar Patel’s unmatched service to the nation and to emulate his values of unity, discipline, and national responsibility. He emphasized that maintaining the unity of the nation is the shared duty of every citizen.
A Unity Rally was also conducted as part of the observance. Students, faculty, NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, and YRC members participated in the rally, raising slogans promoting national integration and spreading awareness about the importance of unity in a diverse nation.
NCC Cadets, under the guidance of Lt. Dr. Esub Basha Shaik, actively participated in the programme. Dr. K. Anusha, along with the NSS and YRC Programme Officers, also took part, ensuring enthusiastic involvement from student volunteers of all units.
