Gandhi Jayanthi was celebrated in the college campus with a deeply patriotic spirit.
The event began with Dr. K. Ramachandra Rao, Principal, Government College (Autonomous), Rajahmundry, ceremonially garlanding the statue of Mahatma Gandhi located on the campus. The serene atmosphere and the presence of faculty members, staff, and students added dignity to the occasion.
After the floral tribute, the Principal addressed the gathering and encouraged everyone to imbibe the timeless values practiced and propagated by Mahatma Gandhi. He spoke at length about Gandhi’s unwavering commitment to truth, non-violence, simplicity, and moral courage, emphasizing how these ideals remain relevant even in today’s fast-changing world.
Dr. Ramachandra Rao also recalled several inspiring references, including
Einstein’s famous remark that future generations would scarcely believe that such a man ever walked the earth,
how Gandhi’s life continues to inspire global leaders, scholars, and peace movements, and
how, in the eyes of many, the Nobel Prize itself seems small when compared to Gandhi’s towering moral stature.
The Principal urged both students and faculty to carry forward these values in their daily lives, helping create a more responsible, compassionate, and harmonious society.
